Short Stay Accommodation in Osney Island

Osney Island is along Thames Street and the Botley Road, which is near to the train station.  As the name implies the River Thames, which is known as the Isis whilst travelling through Oxford, is never far away from the properties located here. Many of them are along its banks.  Easy access to city centre on foot but here it is rare to find car parking other than the public ones.  Train station is nearby and a short walk will bring you to the city centre.

Modern Osney was laid out in 1851 by George P. Hester, who bought the land and set out the streets as they lie today in order to house railway workers. Most of Osney's two hundred-odd households live in nineteenth-century terraced cottages built on Hester's original grid, although there are a number of newer buildings on Bridge and West Streets, as well as a few significantly larger houses scattered throughout the island.
